Season 7, Episode 8 - "The Monkey Show, Part 1"
Dorothy is attending her last session with Stan and his psychiatrist, Dr. Halperin. He's successfully used the transference method to help Stan redirect his feelings for Dorothy and wean from their relationship.
TRUE OR FALSE: Dr. Halperin gives Stan a blow up doll for companionship to help him detach from Dorothy.
False. He gave him a fake monkey shaped like a traffic cone that Stan named Fifi.
Dorothy: Well, this is it. My last session with Stan and the psychiatrist. How do I look?
Blanche: Oh, fine. Why?
Dorothy: It's so hard to dress for a psychiatrist. You wear black, they think you're depressed. You wear red, they think you're angry.
Blanche: You wear a negligee, they think you wanna sleep with them.
Dorothy: Why aren't you arrested more? Anyway, Dr. Halperin is really working wonders with Stan. You know, he's gotten him to transfer his love for me to a fake monkey.
Blanche: What are you talking about?
Dorothy: It really is very simple. You see, studies show that when baby monkeys are taken away from their mothers, they can transfer their love to fake mothers. And the same thing is happening with Stan. I mean, he's weaning himself from his relationship with me by using a fake monkey for companionship.
Blanche: Why not use a fake woman?
Dorothy: Well, honey, that's why Stan went to the psychiatrist in the first place.
